The Advocate (9 June 1894 - 11 May 1901)

Descriptive

Description In 1894, The New Zealand Methodist was discontinued and replaced by The Advocate – another weekly newspaper, under the editorship of Reverend P. W. Fairclough. He was succeeded in the role by Reverend W. C. Oliver in 1898.

It contained articles about the religious, social, and political concerns of the day – including women’s suffrage.

The price for a yearly subscription was 6 shillings and sixpence.
